How to care for a phalaenopsis orchid?
Phalaenopsis is the most common orchid variety and one of the most floriferous.
- After flowering, cut the stem whose flowers have faded above the 2nd eye (20 to 25 cm from the base).
- Exposure: light without direct sunlight, away from cold drafts.
- Temperature: must be between 18° and 21°C.
- Watering: bathe your plant once a week in barely lukewarm water, then let it drain well before putting it back in its cache-pot. From March to September, add a little fertilizer once a month.
- Repotting: every 2 or 3 years with a special orchid mixture, it is essential to help the development of the plant.
- Outdoors: avoid taking it out all summer, unless you shelter it from the rain and monitor the temperature very carefully, as it can drop to around 10 to 12 °C.
