How to care for an olive-tree The following care tips, which will be included with your order, will help your recipient enjoy this plant for as long as possible:
- In a pot:Place your olive-tree in a sunny spot, protected from the wind.
Water your olive-tree moderately, allowing the soil to dry before watering again (every three days or so).
Never leave any water in the drainage dish, as any excess will cause the leaves to drop.
If the temperature drops below -5°C for any length of time, bring your olive-tree indoors and place it in a light, unheated spot or cover it with a protective winter casing.
- Planted in the ground: Choose a sunny spot away from the wind, in dry, well-drained soil.
Young trees with a trunk of less than 10 cm diameter do not like temperatures below -6°C to -10°C and adult trees with thick bark, temperatures below -12°C to - 20°C. If there is a thick frost, enclose it in a protective cover.
